“DID ALL THE LAND IN MILLS-NORRIE STATE PARK BELONG TO THE
MILLSES?”
No -- the estate and the park’s land only partially
coincide. The formal estate grounds of the mansion are included within the
park, as is much of the Millses’ farm land (now part of the golf course). The
greatest part of the Millses’ acreage was east of Route 9; these lands are
now privately owned. Other land now part of the park once belonged to neighbors
of the Millses, including the Dinsmores (for whom the golf course is named)
and the Hoyts.
